To live in Stockholm is not unusual but to leave the lovely capital is strange because the place is a mix of the old and the new set amidst a splendid setting.  One has to live as the locals do to embrace the spirit of Stockholm and as tourist, it is best to join the locals hie off to their favorite places or indulge in their favorite past time.    

Sunday Outings

The locals do take a trip to Stockholm City and they take the local bus.  This is much cheaper than the taking a tourist bus and it an adventure to see the city and its environs and stop by local shops and parks.  Well, this may require some daring but this would be worth the fun and much more so if you are traveling with a group of friends or with the family.   Take the blue buses and use your sl-card on these buses to tour the city centre, transferring buses as you go.  Don't be shy, ask the locals about the attractive places and buildings that catch your eye.

Watch the Sun Set

Do not leave Stockholm without experience the magical sunsets. It's a scene straight out of your favorite fairy tale.  The Swedish landscape with its breathtaking beautiful lakes, mountains, and forests, becomes a magical place when the colors of the sunset cloaks it with a delicate and soft mantle of velvet and shades of pink as the sun sets in the horizon. The best place to watch the sunset is in the small island of Uto but if you prefer a livelier nightlife after admiring the sunset, choose the bigger islands nearby and take an extra day to savor everything - scenery, food, and the hospitality of the locals.

Want to see what Stockholm has to offer the locals for its nightlife?  The younger set go raving wild with the once-a-month Killers show held at the Club Killers on the last Wednesday of the month. If you are there on the last Wednesday of the month you are in luck.  With all that rocking and reggae, it is not impossible to find yourself having a time at the dance floor.  You might just rub shoulders with some of Sweden's hottest celebs.
