Navigating Stockholm Sweden with Map in Hand

When visiting Europe, having a quality map is as crucial as visiting Stockholm, Sweden. Stockholm is located on Sweden's east coast, at Lake Malaren's mouth. The city actually consists of multiple islands. Stockholm is not only the largest city in Sweden, but is also the nation's biggest municipality, and is where the country's main stock exchange is located. While Stockholm has a long and rich history, it has recently experienced being rediscovered by tourists.

Stockholm provides the perfect blend of the old, the new, and the natural. You can find medieval buildings standing nearby modern skyscrapers. And outside the city, you can enjoy the roughly 24,000 islands that boast of beaches with breathtaking beauty. A quality  Stockholm map will help you to navigate effectively around the city.

If you want to enjoy a "blast from the past," then you should certainly visit the Vasa Museum, while in Stockholm. Receiving over a million visitors annually, the Vasa Museum has become Sweden's most popular museum. The attractions in the museum include the Vasa Ship, historic artifacts, and educational films. The museum is easily accessible by car, bus, or ferry.

On the other hand, if you want to enjoy a more recreational activity, then visit the Grona Lund amusement park. It's open from April to September, and boasts of being over two centuries old! The amusement park's admission prices are reasonable, and the place has become renowned for live musical performances. In fact, the biggest event was Bob Marley's performance in 1980, which attracted roughly 27,000 people.

While staying in Stockholm, use your map of the city to enjoy the Royal Palace's "changing of the guard." The "Royal Guard" of Sweden includes approximately 30,000 guards. This free event, which takes roughly 40-minutes, is quite fascinating. The "changing of the guard" occurs on different days and at different times, throughout the year. However, it's certainly a worthwhile event to witness regardless of when you're in Stockholm.

During your stay in Stockholm, you should also consider ice-skating at the Kungstradgarden ice rink. In fact, it's the most popular venue for ice skating. While skating there, don't get discouraged by the locals skating around you. That's because Scandinavians are world-renowned for their ice-skating abilities. This popular ice-skating rink has operated since 1962, and is modeled after New York City's Rockefeller Centre.

Finally, Djurgarden is another tourist destination that you should enjoy while in Stockholm. Located in the center of Stockholm, it's a lovely area that boasts of parks and other lovely areas. This attraction contains several bridge-linked islands, and is one of the city's cultural centers. Over 10 million people visit Djurgarden annually.

Before visiting Stockholm, be certain to book your hotel in Stockholm online. It's quick and easy to do. This will guarantee you lodging after arriving in the city.
