Stockholm Survival Kit

If you are planning a holiday in Stockholm, there are many things to do and attractions to see, not just in the city, but in the many quaint little villages that are in the surrounding areas. If you want to see a beautiful old fortress by the sea, then a forty minute trip to Vaxholm should be in your itinerary. If you like castles, then a visit to Steninge Slott is another must see. Not only do they have a nice cafe and shop, a garden to pick nick in, but also you can watch real glass blowers at work using many traditional methods.

There are many hot spots to be at if you like dancing and other night life activities. You have many choices, Sturecopagniet, a large classical styled night club that resembles a ballroom when you enter. There is a huge dance floor, lounges and three bars, including a VIP area. Hell's Kitchen, Laroy, and the White Room are some more of the great clubs you can enjoy. Some tips to make your clubbing adventure the best it can be, dress up, get wherever you plan to start early and don't get too drunk, or give the bouncers any excuses to kick you to the curb.

One of the things that you should do when planning a holiday in Stockholm is to book your Stockholm hotel stay early. There is actually a wide rage of Stockholm Hotels for you to choose, from luxury to budget, you will definetively find the perfect Hotel in Stockholm. Make sure that you check out holiday websites, and even the discount travel companies, they will have many good deals on hotel, flight, and even rental car packages. These are ideal, because everything is taken care of at one time. If you are also planning any sightseeing tours, this would also be a good time to make reservations for these. If you wait until you arrive, you may find many of them already full, especially during the peak tourist season.

When you are booking your accommodations, make sure you are well informed about hidden charges that may apply, like taxes, surcharges, and gratuities. Some combo packages may not include transportation from airport to hotel, so be sure your package includes at least transportation to your rental car agency. Another thing to be aware of is that unless specifically stated, hotels usually don't include any meals, so this is something you should take into account when going over your budget. You should also make sure that you have planned for any unexpected things that may happen, and you should put some emergency money aside, just in case.

For the most part you will have to most enjoyable holiday in Stockholm imaginable. However you should be aware of some things related to safety issues. One of them is that no matter where you go on holiday, there are going to be people who will want to separate you from your money. It is a good idea to keep most of your cash or valuables in the hotel or wherever you are staying. If you have to carry cash or credit cards, keep them in a hidden place, like a money belt, and never reveal it in public. Step into a stall in the bathroom to get into it.

While there is safety in numbers, if you are hanging out in a crowd make sure you are aware of your surroundings. There will more than likely be many pickpockets lingering around as well, but not for the same reason you are. Travel with company, that way if something goes wrong, you're not alone.
